One example is the annual Evangelism Workshop. For the past two years, men interested in evangelism have gathered together to talk about theological and practical dementions of evangelism. The second conference was planned and conducted by the nationals while the missionaries taught just a few of the many lessons. The nationals are rising to the task of leading themselves forward.

Another annual meeting has started each January. Leaders from the area churches gather together for a meeting to discuss the spiritual progress and problems that the churches are facing. The first meeting centered on Christian principles in cultural ceremonies such as funerals and weddings. The next meeting will discuss godly leadership in the churches.

In the past, an annual women’s meeting for all of the Togolese women was conducted in the capital city, Lome. The meetings for the past several years was unable to be conducted, so one of the Watchi churches decided to have a women’s meeting on a smaller scale for all of the Watchi women.
