In order to help spread the gospel, we are encouraging churches to start multiple congregations in a close proximity. These close-knit churches are called clusters. As many of these first churches are weak and small, the fellowship and interdependence they find with sister churches is a great source of strength and encouragement. So far, five active clusters exist. Additionally the clusters can pull their resources and man power to evangelize new areas and create new clusters in other areas.
Clusters also are being utilized by the missionaries and nations churches to strengthen churches, plan activities, and strategize for future church planting.
The clustering of churches also assists the maturation of the churches. One example of this is the Saturday studies that the missionary women teach. The missionary women recognized the need for spiritual instruction specific for women but also saw an opportunity to teach life skills, including lessons on basic health care, proper nutrition, sanitation, and money management. To teach these lessons in individual congregations would take months, but by teaching in clusters, the missionaries can reach more areas. This program has been going on for a year and a half and has helped develop interchurch relationships and has aided in the growth of their faith and understanding of life skills. |
