November 2004

Greetings from Watchi Land in Togo, West Africa. We hope and pray that you are doing well and the Lord is blessing you in your service to Him!

The past two months have been filled with activity and exciting things going with our family and with the growth of the Kingdom among the Watchi.

In October, over 350 Christians gathered in all of the church clusters to fast and pray on behalf of the Watchi, the Togolese and all of Africa. We were surprised and thankful to the Lord that so many gathered to intercede on behalf of the lost nations of Africa. We are confident that the Lord heard those prayers and will answer them!

Stephen was chosen as "Student of the Month" for November! He was so excited to be honored and to have extra responsibilities in school like: leading the pledge of allegiance every morning, cleaning the erasers and being Ms. Kyleen's special assistant. Congratulations to Stephen!

We also had the blessing of four days and three nights at Elmina Beach Resort in Cape Coast, Ghana paid for by the Christian Hospitality Network. The CHN is a group of Christians dedicated to blessing and nurturing missionaries and ministers all over the world. Missionaries from all over West Africa came for some rest and relaxation. Praise God for these Christians who's mission it is to bless and care for the needs of missionaries.

We're excited to tell you that over 45 people have been baptized into Christ in the last few months. Five from the Adangbe area, five from the Sendome area and 35 from other areas among the Watchi. God is indeed working in powerful ways to bring the lost into the Kingdom. We are especially excited because these new Christians were brought to Christ through the Watchi Christians labors in the Kingdom, with little missionary involvement. The Watchi are evangelizing on their own and God is blessing them!

Equal to this is that the second generation of Train & Multiply is beginning with current leaders beginning to train new leaders in shepherding and evangelism. The vision for Train & Multiply comes from 2 Timothy 2:2: "And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable men who will also be qualified to teach others." We are training and mentoring Watchi leaders and now they are beginning to train and mentor new men in the task of shepherding and evangelism.

Thank you again for praying for us and for the growth of the Lord's Kingdom among the Watchi. He is listening and He is answering! Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Last month we asked you to pray that God will bless my time with these men so that I can encourage and equip them in their shepherding and that God would bless their building project and their efforts to evangelize Lakoto.

God is blessing them as they build their building. The old wall and shelter were torn down this past month and the first two layers of a new wall have already been built!

Other exciting news is that that Adangbe monthly women's meetings have begun again without the prompting or the aid of the missionaries. The elders met together, decided that the women needed to be encouraged and helped the women of the cluster organize and begin meeting. I didn't even know about it until after they had already had their first meeting. I praise God for these shepherds that He has raised up to lead His church. They are working hard for the Kingdom and the Lord is blessing them.

There is no new news concerning evangelizing Lakoto. I'm working with them now to identify challenges that they face there and how they can overcome those challenges through the Lord's strength.

Please continue to ask the Lord to bless the Kpeve church with vision for the future, a passion to bring the lost to Jesus and for the Lord to be with me as I mentor and train their elders each week.

Last month we asked you to pray for the Adidokpo and Gbagu Kope churches, that the Lord would bless their leaders with vision for the future and a passion to evangelize the areas around them.

Five new people were baptized into Christ from the Adidokpo village this past month. It's exciting to see this kind of internal growth. The Christians are shining their light to their friends and families.

Please continue to ask the Lord to bless them with many opportunities to proclaim His message to the lost and to bless me as I mentor and train their leaders.

Praying after the baptisms in Sendome and Batoe.

Last month we asked you to pray for this cluster that the Lord would continue to bless them with growth.

We praise God that there were another five baptisms in this cluster this past month (two couples from Sendome and 1 woman from Batoe).

The growth in this area is exciting. It's never been in large numbers or with rapid speed. Rather, one by one, steady growth. After one of the baptisms Denni, the leader from Sendome, told me that he began the year praying that the Lord would bless the church with 10 new Christians and as of October, eight people have been baptized into Christ from Sendome! When God's people pray, He answers!

Denni is going to begin training two new men in the Train & Multiply leadership/evangelism series. This is exciting because it's the second generation to be trained. I'm training Denni and now he has begun to train two others in leadership and evangelism.

Both the Sendome and Batoe churches are helping out in their communities by being a blessing to the schools in their villages. Batoe helped pay a percentage of the school fees for over 150 children in their area. This made the village really happy, not only were they blessing their own children, but also the children of those who have opposed the church from it's beginning. Returning good for evil. It has turned into a great testimony of the power of God's love.

Sendome is also helping their school out by helping to buy badly needed chalk boards and chalk for the students and teachers. I praise God for their desire to be a blessing to their community.

Praise God for the continued, steady growth in this area and ask Him to use them to plant one or two new churches in the coming year. Also, pray that the Lord will bless me as I mentor and train the leaders to shepherd His church and evangelize the lost in their area.

Last month we asked you to pray that the Koleve and Agbeku churches would be revived and begin worshipping again.

Both villages steps have been taken to begin worshipping again. In fact, Koleve has already had a worship service and Agbeku attended a cluster worship asking for help to reconstruct their shelter so they can begin meeting again. I've made plans to visit these villages on several occasions but have been prevented from doing so due to illness or car trouble. However, I believe that even in this God's hand is working because their desire to worship the Lord came from within. Pray for these two villages, that the Lord would send His spirit and put fire in their hearts to be His people and worship Him alone!

The Kpotonou church had a rough month. The two leaders that I've been working with had a huge dispute that threatened to damage the church. I praise God though because He used the Adangbe elders and myself to help these men reconcile. Those that needed to humble themselves did and those that needed to forgive, forgave. The Spirit of the Lord Jesus is certainly at work here. Where else could we see this kind of humility and forgiveness. Praise God.

As a result though, one of the men has decided that he's not ready to take on leadership responsibilities. At first this made me sad, but I realized that he made this decision after a lot of thought and it shows his maturity in the fact that he knows that he's not up to the task at this point in his life. In his place though, two other men have stated their desire to be leaders and begin Train & Multiply.

I praise God for this and ask your prayers upon this church, that the Lord will bless them and that He will use me to mentor and train them in the Lord's work.
