In 1999 the team started a school for our children. After finding a building to rent, it was soon converted into a school house. Trying to help the children get a feel for American schools, bulletin boards and chalk boards were added. Curriculum from the States was purchased, and it was time to start. All we needed was a teacher. Patty Slack volunteered to kick things off.

The innovation required to teach in a foreign country without many of the normal school supplies was no problem for Patty. The children who went to class were all in pre-kindergarten or kindergarten and quickly began to enjoy the scholarly side of life.

As the Slacks were wrapping things up in Togo, the team was blessed to have Teresa Cloer teach the last three months of school. The kids all loved her gentle disposition and creativity. Her stay was short but helped make a long-term impact on the children.

Jessie Psoinos started the second year of classes in September of 2001. Her past teaching experience and love for Africa made her a valuable contribution to our work as she ministered to our kids and reached out to people in our community as well.

Two Heathers, Heather Dague and Heather Golightly joined our team in January 2003 as teachers in the Tabligbo MK School. They were a great blessing to our team, especially our children! We thank God for young teachers like them who are willing to come and serve in the Watchi work in this way. Heather Dague returned to the States after six months in July, 2003. Heather Golightly returned to the States Feb 1st, 2004.

Suzanne Diaz, from Arlington, Texas taught in the MK School from February through April, 2004. She took 59 days of sick leave that she's saved up over her teaching career to come serve our team and bless our children. May the Lord bless her for richly for blessing us and the work among the Watchi!

The Fall 2004 school year brought more new faces to the Watchi Team. Rae Holderfield, from Little Rock, AR, joined the team to teach 2nd and 4th grades in the Tabligbo MK School. Josh and Kyleen Bontrager also joined the team. Kyleen taught Kindergarten and 1st grade while Josh was an apprentice to the Watchi work.

Rae went home for the Christmas break and recruited a new team member, her fiance! Rae and Jeremy were married on January 1, 2005 and returned to Togo later that month. Rae contined to teach 2nd and 4th grades while Jeremy began teaching preschool to Jonathon, Trevor and Matthew.

Stacey Sexton and Jenna Stephens joined our team as teachers in the 2005-2006 school year. Jenna came from Florida while Stacey joined us from Oklahoma.

In the fall of 2006, God blessed us with two more wonderful teachers: Amy Shaffer and Emily Dunnagan.

We praise God for blessing the Tabligbo MK School with so many wonderful, dedicated teachers. They are a continous blessing to our children, our team and to the growth of the Kingdom among the Watchi.
